WALKING ALONGSIDE YOUTH - AN ONLINE ANXIETY COURSE
Session 5 Reducing Experiences That Fuel Anxiety
REDUCE
experiences that fuel anxiety
This session is about reducing experiences that can fuel anxiety in youth. Once you have established a trusting relationship with the youth in your care, through honouring their identity, experiences and family traditions, and nourishing them through relationship, you are in a much better position to help lessen the external stressors that may be contributing to their anxiety. These may include peer relationships, social media, too much screen time, and not enough time spent in relationship. This session will provide you with ways to reduce experiences that increase alarm and fuel anxiety.
Learning Outcomes
On completing this session, you should be able to:
identify anxiety-inducing experiences that are common to all youth
recognize specific stressors that may be fuelling anxiety in the youth you are caring for and that need to be reduced
consider specific, culturally sensitive ways to protect time and space for connection and rest from the stress the youth you are caring for may be experiencing
'It's your path but you don't have to walk it alone.'
