WALKING ALONGSIDE YOUTH - AN ONLINE ANXIETY COURSE

Session 4

NOURISH

youth with anxiety through relationship

Putting it into practice

Land collaging is a simple reflective practice you can do on your own or with the youth in your care as a way to nourish the relationship. This is the kind of activity you may wish to create a ritual around to reduce alarm and anxiety symptoms. Give it a try!

Melanie Rivers, or Tiyaltwelwet, is an Indigenous mixed-media artist, instructor and expressive arts practitioner from the Squamish First Nation. She facilitates art and creativity sessions that include painting, collage, movement, poetry and writing for individuals, teams and communities. Melanie says, “Art is an incredibly powerful vehicle to express what can’t be said in words, a way to synthesize and capture an experience, transform stories, build bridges, heal, foster community and strengthen relationships.” In the workshops she teaches, Melanie draws from her traditional ancestry and her vast experience in the health and healing field. She creates safe space and offers creative activities that all can engage with.

'It's your path but you don't have to walk it alone.'
